We Are All Racist

Alright, people. I'm not an Eagles fan but don't let this Riley Cooper thing get out of hand. He used the N-Word. I'm not a politically correct individual but I'm assuming the word was "nigger." He used that word at a black man and he was drunk. Seriously? You've never been drunk? You say things. Things you have to apologize for the next day 80% of the times. He said he's sorry. He seemed sincere. Forgive him and let's move on. Hell! I'm a dog-lover and I've forgiven Michael Vick.

Look! Let's look at the parameters and possible catalysts leading up to this event. Maybe his teammates use the word around him a lot in the locker room. And let's not forget the fact he was at a Kenny Chesney concert! He must have been hearing that kind of talk all night from many in attendance and let me tell you, that kind of talk...it's contagious! Add to that there's always someone recording nowadays and you have a recipe for regret the following day.

However, unlike accidentally hitting on your best friend's girl or little sister, this little error in judgement is going to cost Cooper money and fan respect. That is, until he starts averaging 3 completions and 2 TDs per game. Then no Eagles fan will give a damn if he drops the N-Bomb every Sunday should be feel so inclined!

What truly upsets me is all of this faux-offense everyone seems to get when an incident like this occurs. Everyone, black or white gets all weird and stuff. What's worse is that they start talking about not letting him play or putting a bounty on him when he does play. Why? Because he said a racial slur? First off, have you seen the fans of the team in the city he plays in? Philadelphia fanatics are some of the most racist SOBs on the planet! White and black. Are those the people that were offended?

I'm not saying what he did was right. I'm saying to forgive him or get past it and grow some tougher skin. Remember that you live in a free country and that everyone has a right to say what they want even if you don't agree with it and they also have a right to apologize. Most important of all, grow some tougher skin, people! We're all racist in one way or another.
